City by Night
I just realized I haven’t worked in about 2 weeks. That’s the longest I’ve gone without thinking of work since my last holiday in August.
To celebrate my temporary freedom I continued a winter tradition.
The Light Festival is something I’ve visited every year since 2016. Once with my girlfriends, once with another friend and this year my boyfriend was the victim.
As I dragged him across the canals, I realized how beautiful Amsterdam actually is. When you’re rushing to work, you often don’t really see your surroundings for what they really are. A beautiful building becomes an obstacle because it makes your walk to the bus twice as long, a river grows annoying because there is only one bridge and it is in the opposite way. But walking the canals at night, I suddenly felt blessed to be born in such a gorgeous first-world city.
